Oconomowoc Craftsman Junior Suite
It was important for the homeowners of this Oconomowoc craftsman to make sure each member of the family had their own space to rest and relax. This junior suite features a bedroom and full bathroom custom designed with their son in mind.
The Bedroom
This bedroom features a large picture window facing out over the wooded back area. The owners customized this window feature by increasing the height of the pane and adding a framed upper transom to allow in additional light and offer a better view for the room. To create cohesion between this room and the rest of the home, we used a true-craftsman style framing technique for the windows and door trim in the same color treatment that runs throughout the rest of the house.
The room itself features a number of amenities including a large closet with a custom built-in shelving unit for organization. The closet organizer is made of a combination of exposed shelves, clothing racks, and soft-close drawers which help to keep the room free of clutter. The owners can adjust the recessed can lighting and smart ceiling fan with an app on their smartphones, allowing them to set every environmental aspect of the room to their liking. A wall-mounted TV frees up additional space in the room and provides easy entertainment.
The Bathroom
Much like the bedroom, the junior suite bathroom is enabled with smart technology including a wired Control4 surround sound system that the owners can control with their smartphones. Also keeping with the look and feel of the bedroom, the suite bathroom features black fixtures and quartz countertops that match the rest of the home.
The vanity and custom linen cabinet are both made of knotty alder with a weathered cashmere finish that adds a modern, rustic-chic feel to the space. The walls are treated with thin coat plaster which add texture and nice finish to the room. A fully tiled stand up shower draws the eye and offers a luxury, spa-like experience.
