Pine Lake Manor Four Seasons Room
Just off the kitchen, adjacent to the great room, an open four seasons room filled with light completes the main floor. Originally set to be a three-seasons room, the plans later shifted to take full advantage of the beautiful views all year long. Once the structure went up and we truly understood the view possibilities and amazing feel of the room, we worked with the owners, to create a new action plan to ensure the room would be inviting and comfortable all year long.
CAPITALIZING ON A VIEW
In order to provide the best view possible, we worked with our window manufacturer and crew to lower the windows from their original planned height and install additional custom transom windows above. This not only allows guests to take in the stunning views while sitting or standing, it also allows more light to enter the room, fulfilling the owners’ vision of an open and airy coastal feel. To keep the room comfortable, season after season, we in floor heat to cover the entire room. We also added a beautiful, natural fireplace with a gas igniter for ease of use.
CREATING THE PERFECT FINISH
To truly create an inviting space, we finished the ceiling in white oak, the same wood we used for the custom kitchen island, directly in view of the four seasons room. We white-washed the exposed beams to really embrace the light from the windows and completed the space with two custom doors to the wrap around deck. The stone framing the fireplace matches the exterior stonework, while the hearth and the mantel are custom made from concrete and also hand painted and distressed to look like barn wood. A quick step into this space, and a person can help but take a seat, and enjoy all the beauty that surrounds them.
